Frédéric Malle of Editions de Parfums was interviewed by
Die Welt Online
on May 5th, 2012. It's another opportunity for the publisher of
perfumes which gives Parfüm-Verleger in German to talk about what makes
his brand distinctive....
Playing
down the spotlight he has shone on perfumers, the house founder says
that in his universe there are no celebrities, no stars and that only
the smell itself counts. He once again lashes out at custom-made
fragrances, calling them juices made by third-rate perfumers for the
nouveaux riches in dire need of authentic luxury lessons. In the 1930s,
true connoisseurs ordered custom-made Bugattis and Boivin jewelry but
bought perfume off the shelf at Guerlain's.
One of his core positions is that everyone talks about perfume yet no one understands the silent language of perfumery.

for reinforcing and establishing the movement of bringing public
recognition to perfumers whose names are atypically printed on his
perfume bottle labels.
